Dr. LEI JIANG (Chinese character: 姜磊)
Biography: He received the B.S. degree in communication engineering from Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), China, in June 2004, and received the first M.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2007 from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), the second M.S. degree in Microelectronics and NanoelectronicsEngineering in the same year from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications and Systems Engineering from UAB in September 2010. He has been a researcher at the Wireless Technology Innovation (WTI) Institute of BUPT, participates in a project with Motorola Inc. on channel sounding/modeling from 2004 to 2005. He was a researcher of the group working at the project with Sino-German Joint Software Institute at BUPT on PHY layer modulation and channel estimation in 2006.
In 2006, he joined the research group under Dr. M. A. Vázquez Castro, UAB, Spain, pursuing his PhD under a research fellowship funded by the European Network of Excellence on Satellite Communications (SatNEx). During 2007 he works on erasure link-level coding and encapsulation optimization for the return link in mobile environments, contributing to the TM-RCS DVB/ETSI standardization group. During 2008 and 2009 he works on an ESA-funded project on cross-layer resource allocation optimization in multi-domain (in time/space/frequency domain). In his research, he works in close collaboration with leading space industry (e.g. INDRA, MDA Canada, NOMOR-QUALCOMM, etc.) and space research institutions (e.g. ESA, DLR (German Space Agency), etc.). From January 2009 to February 2009, he worked as a researcher at UniK - University Graduate Center, University of Oslo. From March 2010 to May 2010, he was with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Houston, as a Visiting Researcher. From September 2010 to August 2011, he was a Postdoctoral fellow at UAB. Dr. Lei Jiang is the coauthor for the papers that won the best paper awards in the 3rd International Workshop on Satellite and Space Communications (IWSSC 07) and the 3rd International ICST Conference on Personal Satellite Services (PSATS 2011). From September 2011 to September 2013, he joined CRIC S.A. company in Barcelona and was working as a technical coordinator of the FP7 EU project.
Currently, he is working as a Research Engineer and project manager at Ateknea Solutions participation in the EU projects (FP7 and H2020). His research of interests are wireless networks, satellite communications, wireless sensor networks, and the applications of the WiMAX, GNSS related technologies to the various scenarios.
